Teaching

Texas State

At Texas State I have taught the following courses
PHYS 1315 – General Physics 1
PHYS 1430 – Mechanics
PHYS 2425 – Electricity & Magnetism
PHYS 3418 – Methods in Observational Astrophysics w/ Lab

I have also coordinated sections of the labs associated with 1315 and 1430.

Union County College

As an adjunct for the Fall 2017 semester, I taught two sections of gen-ed level astronomy (AST-101) and one section of the associated AST-101 lab.

Penn State

As a graduate student, I taught three sections of gen-ed level astronomy (ASTRO-001), more lab sections (ASTRO-011) than I can recall, and co-led The Astronomy Learning Center (TALC) an optional weekly extra help session for introductory astronomy students whose focus was to get students to collaborate with and learn from one another where possible./

As these were my first times teaching a class, I imagine it was often rough on the students, particularly in my first year. However, as I progressed and learned more from students’ feedback, workshops, and my mentors Dr.s Julia Kregenow and Chris Palma, I introduced more student-centered elements into my classes, a practice that has continued the more I’ve taught.
